My birthday has come and gone; now I’m 27, an important year for me. Call my optimism what you will, but I’ve always believed that I would get published when I was 27. (Never mind that I also thought ages 21, 22, 25 and 26 would be “it” as well) So I’m brimming with confidence and expectations. I’ve sent a query letter out to a new agent, one I’m very hopeful about. I do wish to hear good news soon; I’m excited for the future!

The Elevator is finished, expect for a few edits I add in here and there. I’ve been working full steam ahead on the sequel. I’m about 40 pages into it, which is quite good news, especially since I finished The Elevator in four months. Although I’ve heard advice on writing sequels before the first book is published – mainly not to – I think it’s a very good thing to do. Kat has been sending me several articles from writer’s blogs (published writers) on their woes and complaints about having to put together a sequel and finding themselves unable to write. The pros of writing the sequel ahead of time – even if it’s just the first few chapters before the first book is published – I find is that all of these pressures following publication would simply not be there. And besides…wouldn’t agents and publishers be excited that a sequel is already in the works? Maybe I need to add that to my query letter...

Plus, I’m starting a new journal (a handwritten one I carry with me…not the electronic versions, which I really need to update more often than I do now) and that always gives me this feeling of newness, of the thrill for the future and a whole lot of enthusiasm! Something about a book filled with blank pages. What is the future going to hold? Where will I find myself when it’s done? Will I have a contract…even a published book? I’m terribly excited to find out!!
